Today I had an idea, about how to find out what adds value to my life. Those things that you do in your daily life, that adds the most value to it. Because I live sometimes with this autopilot mode, I don’t realize when I’m doing something that it’s adding 0 value, and once I’ve done it, I feel bad about it.
Taking notes
So I thought, that during 1 week, I will write down all of those things that I do, which gives me a positive feeling afterward.
A simple example, last Friday I was very lazy to go to the gym because my calisthenics class was at 19:00pm. That’s a bit late for me, and I always feel the temptation to stay at home. And I really don’t feel like going.
But once I’m there, in the class, with all the other participants, I feel great during and after the workout. It does make my day.
But again and again, every Friday I have the same temptation to not go. Makes no sense right? That’s what I want to avoid. And the only way that I could think about it, it’s to write it down.
So the coming week I will be paying attention to those details. Then at the end of the week, I’ll have a better picture of which things I should do more often, and which ones I should stop.
The good and the bad
Turns out I had this post prepared, but didn’t upload it because I was lacking a drawing for it. So a week has passed. And it’s time to show the results.
The good
- Sitting outside in the sun
- Play sea of thieves with a good friend of mine
- Work on my personal development project
- Sitting outside at night with a tea
- Watch a Twitch channel from a guy that plays games (only that channel)
- Go to the gym
- Videocalls with family and friends
- Going to Amsterdam
- Seeing friends
The bad
- Checking social media apps
- Reading the news
- Interact with Twitch community
- League of Legends
I’ll keep doing this for a while, in order to keep identifying them and working on them. I just need to do more ‘good’ and less ‘bad’.
